Roots & Remedies: Celebrating Black Wellness and Community Empowerment in Buffalo

The Roots & Remedies Wellness & Vendor Fair is coming to Buffalo on Saturday, November 23rd, from 10 AM to 3 PM, at the Roswell Park Community Engagement Center, 907 Michigan Ave. This special event will bring together over 20 local Black-owned vendors, offering a diverse array of wellness products and services while emphasizing the importance of culturally relevant care in the Black community.

The fair will feature vendors focused on holistic health, self-care, and natural remedies, creating a space where community members can shop and learn about practices that resonate with their needs and cultural identity. Founder and organizer Shantelle Patton shared her vision for the event, saying, “Our goal is to provide a space where Black wellness and culturally relevant care are prioritized. Too often, the resources available don’t speak to our unique experiences. We want to change that by fostering an environment where healing, empowerment, and community are front and center.”

In addition to the vendor marketplace, Roots & Remedies will offer a variety of interactive demonstrations and resources. Attendees can participate in a yoga session led by Shaquille Jones of Bending Buffalo, and experience the energy and skill of Anthony Pierce’s Capoeira demonstration. Both activities showcase the connection between movement and wellness, allowing guests to engage in physical practices that promote balance and mindfulness.

Financial well-being and mental health will also be integral parts of the day. Kevisha Owens will be on-site to share wealth and financial literacy information, empowering attendees with the tools they need to build a stronger financial future. Best Self Behavioral Health will provide mental health resources, ensuring that community members have access to the support they need in navigating mental and emotional wellness.

This free event is open to all, making it an inclusive space where the community can come together to support local businesses, share resources, and celebrate Black culture. It’s a unique opportunity for individuals to connect, learn, and invest in their well-being. With over 20 vendors, engaging demonstrations, and essential health and finance resources, the Roots & Remedies Wellness & Vendor Fair is set to be a day of healing, empowerment, and cultural pride.

Don’t miss out—join us on November 23rd and be part of a movement that’s bringing culturally relevant care and Black wellness to the forefront in Buffalo!
