Calling All Wellness Providers: Join the Black Wellness Provider Directory

Buffalo, NY – In the wake of the racially motivated shooting at Tops Market in May 2022, which tragically claimed the lives of 10 beloved community members, a new initiative has been launched to address the urgent need for culturally relevant mental health and wellness services in Buffalo’s East Side. The Black Wellness Provider Directory, a collaborative project between That Brown Bag Minority Business Directory and the Buffalo Chapter of the Association of Black Social Workers, aims to connect residents with trusted and culturally sensitive healthcare providers. However, we need your help to make this initiative a success.

This directory is supported by the "Reimagine: I am the Change" fund, a program dedicated to fostering grassroots, community-based mental health solutions. The fund was established through a $1.4-million emergency-response grant from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is administered by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH). It was created in response to the Tops Market tragedy, addressing the community's need for healing and resilience.
