2nd Annual "I Love You, Black Man" Event to Focus on Mental Health and Self-Care

Buffalo, NY – June 2024 – Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the "I Love You, Black Man" gathering is back for its second year, promising to expand on the crucial conversations surrounding mental health and self-care among Black men. The event, originally launched at Princessa's Studio and Art Gallery, made a significant impact by bringing together the community to discuss these often-overlooked topics.

This year's event aims to build on that foundation, providing attendees with practical tips, tools, and resources to support their mental well-being. A distinguished panel of speakers will lead the discussion, featuring Sherman Webb-Middlebrooks, Isaiah Gary, Rasheen Powell, and Mark Talley. Each panelist brings a wealth of knowledge and personal experience, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging dialogue.

In addition to the panel discussion, the event will explore various forms of self-care tailored specifically for Black men. Attendees can participate in a yoga session led by The Krazy Yogi, Shaquille Jones, who will guide them through techniques to promote relaxation and mindfulness. This holistic approach to self-care underscores the importance of physical wellness in conjunction with mental health.

A highlight of the evening will be the honoring of Daniel Robertson from SayYes Buffalo and Breaking Barriers mentoring program. He will receive the "Brown Bag Man of the Year" award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community and his dedication to mentoring and supporting young Black men.

The event will also feature a communal dinner, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect, share their experiences, and build a supportive network. This aspect of the evening emphasizes the importance of community and the role it plays in fostering a healthy and supportive environment for Black men.

To encourage participation and ensure that every Black man has the chance to experience this empowering event, tickets are priced at $20 for one or $30 for two, encouraging attendees to bring a friend.

We would like to extend a special thanks to our sponsors: Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, Buffalo Prep, and Second Chapter Bookstore. Your generous support has made this event possible.
